Analysts Canalys have forecasted that smart phone shipments will decline 3.1% in 2019 to 1.35 billion units but bounce back in 2020 rising by 3.4% to 1.39 billion. Canalys anticipates that 5G and other hardware innovations will be positive drivers for consumer demand, although consumers will continue to hold onto phones for longer.
