29th September 2022 12th Gen Intel® Core™ processors: The future of business

The world is changing fast. To stay competitive, businesses must be ready to embrace IT transformation in their operations, tap into business data in new ways, and rethink IT system management. The future of IT brings with it opportunities for those businesses that are well prepared. At Exertis, we understand that the right technology can fuel your customers’ productivity, their innovation, and their bottom line. Working with Intel has led us to take a deeper dive into understanding how Intel can accelerate your customers digital business transformation.

Designed for digital business transformation
When it comes to choosing technology for your customers’ business, there are a lot of needs to take into account. Your customers need to work efficiently no matter where they are or who they’re collaborating with, their IT administrators need the control to manage a growing number of devices, and their leadership needs the agility to innovate, so they can take advantage of new opportunities in new places. For more than 50 years, Intel have been trusted to keep businesses running smoothly. And they’re continuing that legacy in serving your customers business today.

Intelligent PCs with integrated AI
AI is changing our expectations of what technology products can do for us. Intel has integrated AI capabilities right into the PC processor to meet the growing demand for modern software applications. Whether it’s existing applications getting smarter, or entirely new tools. The latest intelligent PCs bring your customers dedicated performance for the deep neural networks that form the foundation of AI applications.

PCs designed for business users
Whether your customers are a growing small business or a large enterprise, Intel-based technology provides a strong, scalable foundation to help business run smoothly. To get the most out of each workday, your customers need technology that stands up to the demands of business. By investing in 12th Gen Intel® Core™ processor-based PCs, you can help your customers keep working with fewer interruptions and streamline device management.

Superior performance when you need it
12th Gen Intel® Core™ processors: a generation like no other before it. With all-new performance hybrid architecture, 12th Gen Intel® Core™ processors offer a unique combination of Performance- and Efficient-cores (P-core and E-core). And that means real-world performance, intuitively scaled to match whatever your customers need.

The Performance-core is Intel’s highest performing CPU core ever. And it’s designed to maximise single-thread performance and responsiveness for compute intensive workloads, like gaming and 3D design. The Efficient-core delivers multithreaded performance for tasks that can run in parallel (like image rendering), along with efficient offload of background tasks for modern multitasking.

To enable Performance-cores and Efficient-cores working seamlessly with the operating system, Intel built Intel® Thread Director right into the hardware. Automatically monitoring and analysing on-the-fly, Intel® Thread Director guides the operating system, helping it place the right thread on the right core, at the right time. And it does it all dynamically, adapting scheduling guidance based on actual computing needs, not on static rules.

Let’s hear from an expert
To get a better understanding of how 12th Gen Intel® Core™ processors can help accelerate your customers business, we sat down with Ashley, our Business Manager, here at Exertis.

Tell us a little bit about your role here at Exertis?
As a Business Manager within the Components Team, I own the relationship between Vendor and Exertis for given product segments. The categories within my remit are client CPU, GPU (Graphic cards) Motherboard, Memory (DRAM) and small form factor PC’s such as the Intel NUC. The focus for this role is to work with each brand to ensure all sales areas have the right go to market strategy, stock profile, forecasting, sales outlook, product roadmaps, updates, training, and any other key information to ensure sales are confident in selling any product that falls within my area. I also engage directly with key customers to see how Exertis can support their business and to work out how we can add value.

What makes 12th Gen Intel® Core™ processors great for businesses and productivity?
Built for business, the Intel vPro platform with 12th Gen Intel Core processors provides leading productivity with the highest performance and most comprehensive platform security for all businesses. The next gen of the Intel vPro platform was designed to deliver even greater security, performance, and manageability. And, with the introduction of 12th Gen Intel Core processors, we are reimagining the way people work with our performance hybrid architecture for business, productivity, and multitasking.

In your opinion, what is the biggest technological achievement with 12th Gen Intel® Core™ processors?
With unprecedented new performance hybrid architecture, 12th Gen Intel® Core™ processors offer a unique combination of Performance and Efficient-cores (P-core and E-core). And that means real-world performance, intuitively scaled to match whatever you’re doing.

12th Gen Intel® Core™ CPUs are at the forefront of the industry transition to PCIe 5.0. PCIe 5.0 doubles the bandwidth of 4.0, which means your system will be ready for the next generation of SSDs and discrete GPUs.

With a 12th Gen Intel® Core™ CPU, you’ve got the option to build a system using either tried-and-tested DDR4 RAM or new DDR5 sticks. If you decide to stick with DDR4 for now, a 12th Gen Intel® Core™ processor leaves you the option to upgrade to DDR5 in future as the technology matures and DDR5 kits improve in speed and capacity.

How do applications adapt to the new way of dealing with the P-cores and E-cores?
12th Gen CPUs pair powerful Performance-cores (P-cores) with Efficient-cores (E-cores) for a smoother gaming and computing experience.  Intel® Thread Director makes optimal scheduling decisions for any workload when assigning threads to cores.  By identifying the class of each workload and using its energy and performance core scoring mechanism, the Intel® Thread Director helps the OS schedule threads on the best core for performance or efficiency. New P-cores deliver 19% average performance improvement over 11th Gen architecture.  New E-cores provide 40% more performance at the same power when compared to Skylake.

Why would you recommend 12th Gen Intel® Core™ processors to customers?
12th Gen Intel® Core™ CPUs use a performance hybrid architecture design to transform your gaming and computing experience. By integrating two all-new core microarchitectures into a single die, this breakthrough technology increases compute efficiency and delivers intelligent workload optimisation.
