According to the latest research from Cloud Industry Forum businesses are, for the first time, spending more on cloud infrastructure than they are on on-premise infrastructure devoting 19% of their IT budgets to cloud infrastructure, just ahead of the 18% spent on on-premise, and that by 2022, just 12% of IT budgets will be spent on legacy technology, as cloud usage increases. Their findings reported in Comms Business also revealed that UK-based organisations are keenly aware of the threats and opportunities presented by digital disruption, with over half (55 per cent) expecting their sector to be disrupted within the next two years. Despite broad recognition of the benefits that AI, IoT and blockchain can deliver to businesses, the research found that only a minority of organisations have adopted them.
