Coronavirus and business continuity

As a consequence of the Coronavirus pandemic, Exertis has taken steps to implement our business continuity plan to ensure that we minimise any potential disruption to our business operations and to our customers whilst protecting the welfare of our employees. We already have a robust crisis management plan and controls in place, but we are monitoring the situation on a daily basis, and continue to follow Public Health England, World Health Organisation and government guidelines.

Our top priority is to protect our employees and we have already taken measures to minimise potential exposure to COVID-19 by: facilitating flexible, home working as appropriate; complying with travel restrictions; enhancing cleaning protocols at our logistics facilities; providing clear hygiene advice to our staff; maintaining social distancing and ensuring that employees self-isolate when required to do so.

Exertis has seen increased levels of demand for essential IT equipment and we are playing a critical role in supplying UK businesses and consumers, which is enabling social distancing and working from home. Indeed, we remain a vital link in the UK’s supply chain, supporting customers who are providing the technology solutions that are needed by key workers, organisations and emergency services. Consequently, we remain fully operational, helping to keep people safe and the economy moving, whilst fully complying with government guidance and regulations.

We are constantly working with our vendors to minimise impact on product supply and with our customers to maintain service levels.

What actions have you taken to address the current coronavirus crisis?

Exertis has implemented its pandemic Crisis Management Plan and our response to the crisis is being managed and closely monitored by a Crisis Management Team, led by our Chief Executive and other senior Board members.

Our key objective has been to ensure that we minimise any potential disruption to our business operations and to our customers whilst protecting the welfare of our employees. We are monitoring the situation on a daily basis, following regulatory guidelines and advice, and taking appropriate actions to safeguard our employees. As this is a fluid situation, we are ensuring that our employees, customers and suppliers are regularly updated on the situation.

What measures have you specifically taken to protect employees and customers?

Full risk assessments have been carried out at all Exertis premises and risk mitigations implemented in close consultation with employee representatives. All Exertis premises have been designated Covid-secure since June 2020.

How will Exertis manage if one of its facilities is impacted?

Within our business continuity plan, we have controls in place which will minimise the likelihood of an operational site closure. However, Exertis is in a fortunate position that it has several facilities in the UK from which it can operate if a temporary closure was required at one site. In addition, many functions can be expedited through remote working which will enable business and communication to continue.

Is Exertis working with vendor partners, suppliers and carriers to ensure customer orders can be fulfilled?

Yes, we are in constant contact with our vendor partners and other stakeholders to understand where supply chain issues may affect product availability. Naturally, this is an on-going situation and any changes will be communicated accordingly.

What is Exertis' policy on attending customer meetings?

All meetings are to be undertaken via conference calls to comply with government regulations on working from home and social distancing.

Are you allowing visitors access to your premises?

Currently, we are not permitting visitors to our offices to protect the welfare of our employees and to comply with government regulations. In any event, we have been equipping our employees to work from home. Our logistics centres and warehouse operations are open and functioning as usual in order to maintain the supply chain to our online customers that are providing the IT equipment which is enabling companies to equip their employees to work effectively from home. Our warehouse operatives are following guidelines to ensure their health and safety as well as the wellbeing of transport personnel by adopting the required social distancing measures.
